![]() MacX DVD will probably be the one I pay for as Handbrake doesn't seem to do so well on its own as a rip/convert tool and using the Windows machine with MakeMKV, whilst the rip is slower, you lose time transferring the file from the PC to Mac. #Ripit does not see my disc full version#Given its dismal failure rate and total lack of updates I'm less than inclined to pay for the full version as I doubt its performance will be better. Not sure I've fathomed this correctly yet as I end up with a 10GB rip using that!!ģ) MakeMKV on a Windows desktop which provides an MKV file that I then transfer to the MBP for Handbrake to convert. But again it's slooooooow.Ģ) Handbrake, direct from DVD to Apple TV3. Mostly when Ripit fails I switch to either:ġ) Macx DVD to rip and convert (which means of course I only get the Apple TV version of the DVD) and I'm using the free one at the moment which only has Apple TV2 settings, not the 3. But a can't get anywhere near these 15-20 mins to rip that people speak of. ![]() I'm doing my ripping on an MBP 2,4 GHz i7 with 8GB RAM and what also strikes me is that it's so painfully slow at ripping regardless what I use. I'm reluctant to even bother with it further seeing as it's failed about 30% of the time so far. Maybe it was better before (noting there's been no actual update to it for 2-3 years +) but having just got round to the painful chore of ripping my DVD collection to digital (both in original format and Apple TV) I have found Ripit the worst offender of any of the other options I've tried with disc read errors (generally when it's got 80% + the way through!!) on flawless discs, forcing me to eject and start again. Anyway, does anyone have any advice Ive tried looking at the disc via File Explorer and it too doesnt see any files there. In all honesty I can't see why all the glowing praise has been given to Ripit across many forums and such like for several years. ![]()
